Meursault (2006)
Our Meursault Village 2006 has developed its potential quite fast, certainly compared to the Meursault 2005. It’s a complex, full bodied wine with fruity aromas and the typical impression of butter and nuts, which will certainly increase in the coming years. It’s broad, soft and delicate. The after taste is long and pleasant, remarkable for such a young wine. We’re certain you’ll like the 2006 as much as the 2005. The grapes in our Meursault Village are from two vineyards. A large part is from “Les Grands Charrons”, a vineyard to the south of Meursault, next to the premier cru vineyard “Les Gouttes d’Or”. The other part is from “Les Pelles”, at a slightly lower altitude with a richer soil, containing more clay. The wine can be kept for several years.
Typically, a Meursault Village is rounder and richer than a Puligny-Montrachet. Puligny-Montrachet on the other hand is more lively and fruitier, which you can taste in our Puligny-Montrachet as well. You can keep the Meursault for at least 5 to 10 years. The taste will become even more complex and full-bodied, especially the impression of butter and nuts. The real wine lover will keep a few bottles for another decade! We certainly will. What dishes go best with this Meursault? We can recommend Asparagus (with Salmon or ham), Beef Stroganov, dishes with creamy or buttery sauces and of course the classic combination with ripened French Brie cheese. By the way, these are precisely the dishes that go well with our Bourgogne Blanc (“Petit Meursault”) 2006 as well.
