Santenay 1er Cru (2007)

We proudly present our first Santenay 1er cru. There is only a very limited quantity of white Santenay available in Burgundy and even less of the white 1er cru. A well-made Santenay 1er cru is a special treat. Ours is from the vineyard “Beaurepaire”, situated above the village of Santenay.

This wine has a bouquet of ripe fruit, such as peach and mandarin, floral notes and it is open and expressive. We find mandarins and apricots on the palate, together with aniseed and hazelnut. The balance of this rich wine is perfect. The aftertaste matches bouquet and palate. Our JanotsBosstyle is again unmistakably recognizable, but there is much difference between the mineral, vivid Pernand-Vergelesses and the rich and open Santenay 1er cru. Do the test to discover two extremes of the Côte d’Or: compare the JanotsBos Santenay 1er cru and the Pernand-Vergelesses.

Try our Santenay with pasta or risotto with mushrooms or poultry in creamy sauce. In combination with cheeses we would recommend medium stationed cheese, good tomme from the Comté, Savoie or Piemonte. Best served at 11 to 12 centigrades.
