In 2005 we produced our first vintage. The wines are sold out in Meursault, except for a small amount of Volnay. You might be able to buy some from our importers. Of course we have kept a few bottles for vertical tastings in the future.
The grapes are from two different vineyards, “Les Pellans” near Meursault and “Les Femelottes” near Puligny-Montrachet. The Meursault part delivers the full and mild character with lots of aroma. The Puligny part adds minerality, fine acidity and liveliness. Together they provide an excellent balance in our Bourgogne Blanc. Both vineyards are directly next to the qualified “village” vineyards. This clearly distinguishes our Bourgogne Blanc from many others. We have matured the wine during six months in two to four year old barriques (futs). We deliberately limited it to six months to keep the wine fresh and fruity.
Our Saint- Aubin premier (1er) cru is from the vineyard “En Montceau”, which is on the same hill and the same altitude as the well known “En Remilly” and “Les Murgers des dents de chien”. Our Saint-Aubin is elegant with very delicate and fresh acidity, fruity (typically green apple) and has a distinguished mineral character. The aftertaste is long. Because of the altitude of “En Montceau” the grapes ripen slowly, which adds to the fine acidity and aroma’s The grapes are for about 50% from old vines (“Vieilles Vignes”). Our Saint-Aubin can be kept well for several years. Like the Meursault Village the Saint-Aubin has matured for 11 months on oak, of which 20% were new futs.
Also the grapes in our Meursault Village are from two vineyards. A large part is from “Les Grands Charrons”, a vineyard to the south of Meursault, next to the premier cru vineyard “Les Gouttes d’Or”. The other part is from “Les Pelles”, at a slightly lower altitude with a richer soil, containing more clay. The wine is full bodied, has lots of aromas and a long and lasting aftertaste. The wine can be kept for several years. Typically, a Meursault Village is rounder and richer than a Puligny. Puligny on the other hand is more lively and fruiter. Our Meursault Village has matured for about 11 months on oak, of which 20% were new futs.
Our Volnay red wine is from the vineyard “La Bouchère”, directly above the premier crus “Clos de Chênes” and “Taille Pieds”. De soil of the vineyard is known as “Terre Blanche”. On his soil the Pinot Noir gives very elegant, expressive wines with a long and full aftertaste. Typically, Volnay somewhat lighter than but more elegant than the well known Pommard.
