Vintage 2012 is a year with low yields. The vineyards were struck by hail. The blooming time was irregular. Vintage 2012 had the so called "millerandange", i.e. the grapes are unequal in size. This is no problem for the wines, as it gives them more aromas and a nice level acidity. Millerandange is often caused by a wet and relatively cold spring. Vintages with millerandange are most of time good for keeping the wines. We expect 2012 to be no different.
We are very pleased with the quality of 2012. The Guide Hachette has e.g. awarded our Bourgogne Blanc with two stars. From their description we could conclude we just missed the "coup de coeur".
In 2012 we have no Bourgogne Rouge, Pernand-Vergelesses and Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes. From our other appellations we have only very limited quantities (upto 50% less than in 2011).
Our Bourgogne Blanc is another great wine, and not just in our opinion among the best in Burgundy and better than many village apellation. We also have the village appellations Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Pouilly-Fuissé. Our 2012 premier crus are Saint-Aubin, Santenay, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. So despite of the hail, we still have a very nice range for you. The quantities are small, so we expect tob e sold out soon.
The tasting notes you can find here were made in spring 2015. The wines show great expression. Of course, the premier crus definitelt need more time to reach their full potential.
The wines are all well-balanced en show the typical JanotsBos style: pure, expression of the terroir, complex and with a nice touch of barrique in the background, supporting the wine. They're all great gastronomic Burgundy wines and they can be kept in your cellar for years.
